R&B singer [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cee-Lo Green[/lastfm] has been receiving a lot of backlash from [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]John Lennon[/lastfm] fans following his New Year’s Eve 2012 performance of Lennon’s classic song “Imagine,” in which he tweaked the original lyrics to push pro-religious views.

On the televised coverage of NBC’s New Year’s Eve 2012 at Time Square with Carson Daly, the singer performed the song changing one verse to “all religion is true,” instead of Lennon’s original lyric “and no religion too.”

Fans of the original song took to Twitter criticizing Green for his religious rendition of the song:

But the singer doesn’t seen to have any regrets. He originally responded to the criticism by saying, “Yo I meant no disrespect by changing the lyric guys!” he wrote in his erased post on the matter. “I was trying to say a world were u could believe what u wanted that’s all.” He later deleted that comment.

What do you think? Should Cee-Lo Green have changed the lyrics to the song? Is John Lennon rolling over in his grave? Let us know in the comments below!
