Bruno Mars may be sitting pretty with two singles on Billboard’s Hot 100, but by no means is he taking it easy.

Earlier this month, he performed not only once, but twice at the GRAMMYs, he’s been traveling the globe in promotion of his latest album, Unorthodox Jukebox, and just announced his Moonshine Jungle World Tour, which kicks off June 22 in Washington D.C.

Bruno spoke to Carson Daly at AMP 97.1/Los Angeles and gave him a preview of what we can expect from his biggest tour yet.

“I’m just getting started, Carson!” Mars said. “Trust me; I would never over-hype my album. If I tell you I’m going to put out a stinker, I’m going to put out a stinker.”

Stinker is one word you can’tuse to describe his latest effort. Billboard says Mars might earn his very first #1 album next week, thanks to a sales boost following his GRAMMYs performance. That night, he performed alongside one of his idols, Sting.

“Oh man, he’s the best. You know when you work with like them old school pros? He just showed up with his bass on his back and rehearsed and he’s like, you know, ‘Where do I plug in?’ He was just one of the guys.”

“Them songs, only he can sing them. You know, they’re so high for a dude to sing and it’s one of those voices, man, it’s like when you hear it, you’re just like, ‘Damn!’”

Mars hasn’t had any down time since that moment. He’s been performing nonstop on the talk show circuit not just here in the good old U.S. of A., but around the entire world. In the midst of all that, he also announced his upcoming world tour.

“That’s the thing I’m the most excited about. I made a lot of these songs just because of the inspiration I got on the road and performing and you know, going country to country and singing these songs live. I remember being in the studio and that’s why you have the song ‘Locked Out of Heaven.’ It’s because we want to get up and you know, we want to party and this show’s going to be, it’s going to be one for the books!”

Bruno shed a little light on the set list. It will of course include his hits, but also lesser known tracks off his sophomore album.

“Songs like ‘Treasure’ on the album and ‘Show Me.’ I can’t wait to perform ‘Gorilla.’ That’s going to be a 20-minute song, I know it.”

But what’s the deal with that crazy Moonshine Jungle title? The 27-year-old crooner explained how his tour name came to be.

“One of the early songs on my album was called ‘Moonshine’ and there’s a line that I use in the song ‘Gorilla’ talking about being in the jungle, so I put those two together, Carson, and Bob’s your uncle!”

Mars is currently stationed in London, as you can tell from his cheeky lingo, where he’s performing his latest track, “When I Was Your Man.” He described the song as “the most honest thing [he’s] ever been a part of.”

“It’s weird because when you write a song like that, you’re in the studio and you’re just kind of tapping into dark emotions and I’m proud of the song and I want people to hear it, but it’s weird when you perform it on TV because it’s kind of like you’re bleeding in front of the world and then the cameras go off and you just have to like, basically stew in all that emotion you pulled out.”

Luckily for Bruno, he can’t stay sad for too long. He’s pumped to get back on the road doing what he loves.

“I’m just happy that I’m singing live and I get an opportunity to play with my band. We haven’t played a show in over a year, it feels like. We’ve been doing all the GRAMMYs and just TV shows to promote the album. That’s one thing that’s fun to do, but the real fun comes when we get a chance to just stretch out for an hour and half, two hours and play a show.”
