Construction continues in the Metro East this weekend, so be sure to plan accordingly when traveling in and out of the city.

Eastbound I-64 will be closed starting today, September 13th, starting at 9 PM for a total of 9 days to resurface lanes. Construction is expected to reopen at 9 AM on Monday, September 23th. Motorists are advised to use the following marked detour Eastbound I-55/70 to southbound I-255. There will be no eastbound I-64 traffic east of the I-55/70/64 split, so be sure to prepare for major traffic, especially during rush hour. IDOT advises drivers & travelers to modify work schedules and other modes of transportation during this construction period.

In addition to I-64 closures, westbound I-55/70 will be closed for approximately 2 1/2 days beginning next Friday, September 20th. All traffic should use southbound I-255 to westbound I-64. There will be no westbound I-55/70 traffic will be allowed west of IL 203.

But that’s not all, there’s more construction on the Missouri side, too.

All lanes of northbound Route 141/Earth City Expressway at I-70 will be closed this weekend for bridge repairs to the I-70 bridge. Starting at 8 PM today, all lanes of noorthbound Earth City Expressway at I-70 will be closed until 5 AM Monday, September 16th. Ramps at I-70 and Earth City Expressway will also be closed, including eastbound I-70 to northbound Earth City and southbound Earth City Expressway to eastbound I-70. The far right lane on eastbound I-70 over Earth City Expressway will also be closed. Traffic northbound on Earth City Expressway will be forced to go to eastbound I-70. MoDOT advisers motorists to use alternate routes to get to around these lane closures including Route 364 or St. Charles Rock Road to access Route 141/Earth City Expressway.
