I truly believe that Cardinal fans (of which I am one) have become slightly spoiled by the success of the team over the past decade and a half.

Think for a moment, what it’s like to be a baseball fan in Chicago.

Forget the Cubs, those loveable losers for a second.  I’m talking about the other Chicago team…you know the one that’s actually won a World Series in the past hundred years.

2005 was a magical year for the White Sox as they defeated the Astros in what most serious baseball fans consider to be one of the most boring, uneventful World Series in decades.

Yet they prevailed, fueled by a few decent starters, some timely hitting and… the vocal stylings of one Steve Perry of Journey?

That’s right, the White Sox adopted the Journey corporate pop/rock anthem “Don’t Stop Believing” as their own that year and it propelled them to their first championship in 88 years!

The Rock Gods (and Journey guitartist Neil Shcon) must not have been pleased by this however, as the team has struggled in mediocrity since their epic run 8 years ago.  In fact, 2013 represented one of the worst seasons in team history.

Their ineptitude was catalogued all season long by their play-by-play announcer, and former White Sox star Ken “The Hawk” Harrelson, who whether he realizes it or not, is one of the single funniest people on the planet.

“NO!!!!! NO!!!!!!!NO!!!!!!”

(The botched pop-up sequence at 2:13 is pure, Chicagonian Gold I tell you)

So if by the chance the Cardinals should happen to stumble at some point in the NLCS with the Dodgers, I would encourage you to watch the following video, a compilation of White Sox blunders as seen through the cold, sad eyes of “The Hawk”, and remember…

You could live in Chicago.
