I’m not sure it’s fair to suggest that he was expecting his name to be called Sunday evening, but it did look like Michael Keaton had his acceptance speech ready to go as the Oscar for Best Actor was being announced.
Who can blame him? He did win a Golden Globe and over a dozen of other Best Actor awards leading up to the Academy Awards. He was the odds on favorite in the Best Actor category according to the betters in Vegas.
I don’t know about you, but I was shocked when Eddie Redmayne was announced as the winner for his role in The Theory Of Everything. (And that’s not a criticism of him, just more surprise and disappointment that Keaton didn’t win.)
So is it really that surprising that he had a speech ready to go?
Now the gum, that’s a different story.
