Prom season is almost here, which means “promposals”–elaborate invitations to the prom–are underway.

According to a study released yesterday by Visa, the average American teenager will spend a ridiculous $324 in 2015 on a promposal, representing about one-third of the $919 they’ll spend on the entire prom experience, including attire, limo rental, flowers, tickets, photos, and after-parties.

The survey also found that parents plan on covering 73 percent of their kids’ total prom costs this year, compared to 56 percent last year. Poorer families also spend more on prom; families making less than $25,000 annually will lay out $1,393 on average, while families making more than $50,000 will spend only $799.

Meanwhile, the Visa survey also shows that Canadians spend less on proms and are reeling in their cash outlay compared to last year. Last year, the average Canadian household with a teenager spent $804 on prom; this year, it’ll be $508.

How much you think you spent attending your own prom?
