Target Criticized for “Obsessive Christmas Disorder” Sweater

Target is being accused of making of light of mental illness by carrying a Christmas sweater emblazoned with the words, “OCD Obsessive Christmas Disorder.” According to CBS Local, several disgruntled shoppers have taken to social media to criticize the sweater. “@Target Congratulations on becoming part of the problem when it comes to stigmas against mental illnesses. #OCD #mentalillness,” one user wrote.

A representative for Target has responded by issuing a statement that reads, “We never want to disappoint our guests, and we apologize for any discomfort. We currently do not have plans to remove this sweater.”
