“Is this a new trendy dance people are doing at wedding receptions?!”

No.

Actually this tribal dance is called “Haka”, which is a traditional Maori war dance that has been around since the 1800s and was started by a New Zealand football team.

This video has only been posted a little over 24 hours, and has already reached over 19 million views. The bride and groom are both proud Polynesians and were very moved by their friend’s performance. The bride, Aaliyah Armstrong, explained:

“I love my Maori side but this time (watching a haka) was different, knowing they were doing it for me and my husband. It was a blessing to be part of it.”
