Sarah Michelle Gellar has officially signed on to reprise her role as Kathryn Merteuil in NBC’s planned Cruel Intentions sequel series. According to E!, the actress announced the news on her Instagram by posting a photo with the original film’s director Roger Kumble and movie and show executive producer Neal Moritz. The new series will serve as a follow-up to the 1999 movie and will document Kathryn’s quest to control Bash–the son of Annette Hargrove and the deceased Sebastian Valmont–as he seeks to learn more about his family’s legacy at Brighton Preparatory Academy. The roles of Annette and Sebastian were originally played by Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe.
