I’ve been surrounded by Pearl Jam fans ever since they hit the music scene in the early 90’s.

Their climb up the rock music charts (along with a host of other “grunge” bands) made more “traditional” rock bands like Bon Jovi and Motley Crue seem obsolete.

Seemingly overnight, the Sunset Strip in Hollywood was replaced as the center of rock n roll by the sullen streets (and clubs) of Seattle.

Personally, I think they’re OK, although I must admit some irritation at the fact that they’ve associated themselves so closely with the hated, Chicago Cubs.  It’s fine though, we’ll see your Pearl Jam and raise you with Chuck Berry!

I stumbled onto this video the other night however, which has given me a new-found respect for the band’s lead singer, Eddie Vedder (and actress, Jeanne Tripplehorn…what a voice!)

The two team up for a performance of  the Rolling Stones song, “Shattered” and Vedder’s introduction of Tripplehorn says it all.

“She has this incredible ability to sing any Rolling Stones song…as Julie Andrews.”

OK, now you have to watch it.
