Apple Wants to Disable Phone Cameras at Concerts, Theaters

Don’t you hate the people who watch concerts through their phone and record more then they actually watch? Well, Apple wants to fix that.

They have been granted a patent for iPhone-camera canceling technology.

The patent allows it to develop technology used to stop iPhones from taking photos or video. The most practical applications of the technology would be at concerts, or movie theaters to stop bootleggers.

It sounds like Apple just wants you to enjoy a concert, not your phone.

The technology will work via transmitted infrared signals, which would command an iPhone to block the camera’s functions.

The patent filing states that phones would only be disabled if it’s pointed in a certain direction. So people could take photos of their friends in the crowd, but not the stage.
