Missouri has some of the angriest criminals in the country, but North Carolina’s criminals are the happiest.
That’s according to a new study by Los Angeles-based criminal defense firm Aizman Law Firm. Using technology that analyzes facial expressions, the study looked at 30,000 mug shots from across the country.
Surprisingly, the study found that most people–59 percent–look happy when the cops snap their mugs; 21 percent are sad.
Following the Tar Heels in the happy criminal category were Nevada, Indiana and Maine. The state with the saddest mug shots was West Virginia, while the state with the most contemptuous mug shots was New Jersey.
