During halftime of Sunday night’s Minnesota Vikings game, the team honored dearly departed native son Prince with a touching tribute.

The Minnesota Orchestra, members of one-time Prince band the New Power Generation and gospel act the Steeles got together to perform his indelible hit “Purple Rain” as photos of the legend and other touching animations flashed on the field.

Appropriately, the performance was lit by soft purple light and cell phones, giving the song an even more bittersweet edge.
