St. Louis Cardinals optimists will be all over Busch Stadium’s ticket office today at noon. Playoff tickets go on sale today for the possible first and second round Cardinals home games, even though St. Louis isn’t guaranteed a playoff spot yet.

St. Louis could host the Wild Card one-game playoff on Wednesday October 5. Then if they win that game, they could also host games 3 and 4 of the National League Divisional Series on Monday, October 10, and Tuesday, October 11.

The Cardinals are only selling tickets to those three potential games, and will wait to sell possible NL Championship and World Series home game tickets.

Twelve games remain on the Cardinals’ schedule, and if the season ended today, the Cardinals would travel to New York and play the Mets in the Wild Card one-game playoff. The Mets have a one game lead on St. Louis in the National League Wild Card race.

St. Louis is currently tied for 2nd in the Wild Card with San Francisco, but the Cards holds the tie breaker over the Giants.
