Starbucks shocked coffee drinkers on Tuesday by releasing a green “unity” cup ahead of next week’s election. The Associated Press reports that the new cup, which debuted across the U.S., features a mosaic of more than 100 people and is meant to be “a symbol of unity.” While the cup debuted on the same day that many of Starbucks’ holiday drinks returned to the menu, the coffee company has said it won’t be replacing its holiday-inspired red cup. “Artist Shogo Ota’s design represents humanity and connection, serving as a symbol for bringing people together as a united community,” the company said in a statement. This year’s red cup is expected to debut on November 10.
