I’ve read a lot online this morning about what sort of “special deals” veterans can find at restaurants throughout the country today…and all of that is fine. Our veterans deserve our respect in many different ways.
What I haven’t seen much of this morning is any discussion as to why we need to honor our military veterans. As of 2015, there were 18.8 million veterans living in the United States according to the Census Bureau. Of these, 1.6 million veterans are women
A large proportion of the veteran population, 9.3 million, are aged 65 and older, and many of these World War 2 and Korean War veterans are advancing in age.
Talk with them! Listen to their incredible stories…and remember why it’s so important to honor their service while they’re still with us.
