‘Santa Paws’ Puppies Deliver Joy to Veterans

‘Santa Paws’ puppy elves spread happiness to veterans with PTSD at Barnes & Noble in Hazard Center Saturday, according to Paws’itive Teams and Surf Dog Ricochet.

Surf Dog Ricochet, a philanthropy surf dog company, partnered with Paws’itive Teams, an emotional support dog program, to carry out the eighth annual ‘Surfin Santa Paws Howliday Giving Drive’ in Operation Socialization, according to an official from the organizations.

Ricochet, the surfing philanthropy dog, traded her life jacket for a Santa coat and gathered with the other puppies donning elf hats, in an event that aimed to socialize the dogs while bonding with veterans and helping stressed out shoppers relax.

Operation Socialization paired veterans who have completed the Paws’itive Teams ESD program with puppies from her Alma mater, Puppy Prodigies, said the official. The program Puppy Prodigies helps rescue dogs gain positive social experiences for a brighter, balanced future.

Many veterans and shoppers enjoyed a happy puppy break from their busy shopping trips, said the official. Anyone who wasn’t able to attend but would like to make a donation can do so on the Surf Dog Ricochet’s website.

Veterans who would like to sign up for an ESD class with the Paws’itive Teams can also go to their website.
