The Pokémon Go craze and the $1.56 billion Powerball jackpot got the most traction on Google this year, as the search engine revealed today that “Powerball” was its most trending search term of 2016 in the U.S., while “Pokémon Go” was its most trending search term worldwide. (A “trending” term means it received the highest spike in Google traffic over a sustained period of time compared to how much it was searched for the year before.) Here are the search queries that made it onto Google’s top 10 trending list for 2016 worldwide:

  3. Donald Trump
  4. Prince
  5. Powerball
  6. David Bowie
  7. Deadpool
  8. Olympics
  10. Suicide Squad
And here are the 10 most trending search terms in the U.S. for 2016:

  4. Pokemon Go
  6. Olympics
