A shopper turned Santa in Brentwood store today, handing out cash to random strangers. He’s not a rich man, in fact he’s says he’s just an average person who owns his own business. He’s even trying to save up for a wedding for one of his four children. But this holiday angel sacrificed a few hundred dollars to brighten the Christmas of others.
He doesn’t want his identity revealed instead he refers to himself as Goodwill Santa.
“My mom died of cancer last year she always gave. always always always. She’s my inspiration.”
He’s says it’s not about him. It’s about the people and their stories. There’s the woman he handed $100 who says she hasn’t worked in five months. Or the woman who says she will use the $40 he gave her to shop for others.
“This is a blessing because I’m shopping for a family who doesn’t have anything.”
As Goodwill Santa made his way around the store, reaction to his handout varied from shock, to excitement, to disbelief. For some it restored their faith in the season.
“It makes me feel good. I feel Christmasy now, I didn’t feel that way before,” said one shopper.
While his face remains a secret, Goodwill Santa hopes his message will be shared.
” If one out of 10 people who view this and see what I’m doing and somebody does something as little as buying someone a cup of coffee that will make them happy. Try it sometime it makes you feel alive.”
