One might think the best place to retire is somewhere warm and sunny, with a beach.

According to U.S. News & World Report's list of 100 Best Places to Retire in the U.S., think a bit more north.

Lancaster, Pennsylvania takes the top spot as the best place spend your golden years in the U.S., with two Florida cities taking the next two spots: Fort Myers and Sarasota, respectfully.

Lancaster has a mix of suburbia, farmland and charming downtown with arts, theater and dining, with the Pennsylvania Amish country to the east, according to USA Today. It rose in the list because of increases in housing affordability and the overall happiness of its residents.

Austin, Texas comes in at No. 4, with Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania rounding out the top 5.

U.S. News based the rankings on 6 factors: Housing affordability, desirability, retiree taxes, the happiness index, job market and health care quality, USA Today reports.
