Dolly Parton will ascend to the stars and play a literal angel in the latest Netflix holiday movie Christmas on the Square, due to stream November 22.

The Country music icon will star and executive produce the musical holiday movie featuring Christine Baranski as a nefariously rich woman returning to her hometown after her father’s death. She throws everyone out on their holiday butts, and tries selling the land to a mall developer. A typical American holiday conundrum I’m sure we’ve all experienced.

It’s up to Dolly to impart love and empathy onto the heartless entrepreneur, and present the error of her ways. The movie includes 14 original songs from the legend herself. “#ChristmasOnTheSquare is more than just a song... it’s also a musical!,” the artist tweeted out in excitement.

Parton left fans without a trailer, but shared a song called “Christmas on the Square,” off her latest Christmas album A Holly Dolly Christmas. It’s Dolly’s first Christmas album in 30 years, and releases to the public October 2.

Dolly is already embodying the Christmas spirit, giving back to frontline workers of the Country music industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. She teamed up with Christie's Auction to present, NASHVILLE: An Auction to benefit ACM Lifting Lives COVID-19 Response Fund.

One item up for auction includes Parton’s Swarovski crystal-studded four-string dulcimer used to play “Jolene” during her 50th Anniversary performance at the Grand Ole Opry in 2019. It’s the first musical instrument ever to appear at a global public auction from the Country legend. Parton says the cause is greater than her crystals’ legacy. “Seeing my Country music community suffer due to the pandemic has broken my heart,” she said in a statement.
