The Best Time To Be Alive

Well this is some positive news!

March 9, 2018

Here are a few stats that PROVE this is the best time in human history to be alive, even if it might not seem like it sometimes...

1.  The average American has way more disposable income than they used to.  In 1929, we spent over 60% of our income on basic necessities.  Now it's about 30%.

2.  We spend much less time on chores than we did 100 years ago.  In 1920, the average family spend 11.5 hours a week just on laundry.  Now it's an hour-and-a-half.

3.  Literacy rates have skyrocketed.  Learning to read used to be something only rich people could do.  But now the worldwide literacy rate is about 83%.  And for younger people between 15 and 24, it's over 90%.

4.  Life expectancy is way up.  It's right around 79 in the U.S., which is almost a decade longer than it was 50 years ago.  In the mid-1700s, worldwide life expectancy was just 29 years old, and now it's 71.

5.  Democracy is more widespread than ever.  About two-thirds of the world's population now live in "free" or "relatively free" countries.  In 1950, it was closer to ONE-third.  And in 1850, it was only 7%.
