Sleep experts say that fitting a 20-minute nap between 2 and 4 p.m. can improve your short-term alertness and performance. "People experience a dip in energy and alertness in the early to mid-afternoon," Dr. Natalie Dautovich tells CNN. It's the ideal time to engage in a nap because you're sleepy, but still far enough away from bedtime that you'll have the drive to sleep at night." If you're really dragging, you should aim for 90 minutes. So how do you squeeze in a nap at work? Researchers suggest getting away from the chaos and getting some sleep in your car. Or, if you're lucky enough to have your own office or are friends with a colleague who has one, close the door and take a breather.
